2020 has been a really challenging year for all of us, and an especially tough year for our Afton Apple family. Not only did the pandemic hit this winter, we lost an incredible man - Farmer Frank, in May, somehow made it through strawberry season, had an EF-1 tornado rip through our corn maze and apple orchard in July and finally persevered through all of the changes to make it possible to open for our fall season.
Many lessons can be learned from this past year, including having more patience, practicing gratitude more often and embracing change as it happens. One of the most important lessons that have impacted us this year is to simply live in the moment. We have dedicated this year’s maze to remind us to slow down and spend more time enjoying here and now, as nothing is guaranteed. It reminds us that the little things are actually big things. As you can see from the pictures, the maze looks quite a bit different than years past. Right after the tornado, we were unsure if the maze would be a total loss this year, but we were able to work with the mangled-up corn stalks and destroyed bridges to make it into the maze we look forward to every year! We also have 24 stations of trivia and fun facts throughout the maze. We can’t wait for you and your friends and family to come visit!
