Apple Cake with Caramel Sauce
- Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, soft
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup pecans
- 2 1/2 cups chopped apple
- Caramel Sauce
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
Directions
Mix first 8 ingredients. Mix only until blended. Add apples and pecans. Pour into greased 9" round tin. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 min.
Make sauce:
Melt butter, brown sugar, and salt, bring to a boil. Whisk in vanilla and milk. To serve, ladle 2-3 tbs. hot sauce onto 8 serving plates, place cake on top of sauce and top with whipped cream. Server warm.
